YAC Membership Descriptions (by position)

 

OFFICERS:

Attend monthly Governors’ meeting
Attend monthly Officer & Cabinet meeting
Attend monthly ACOY meeting
Attend quarterly Human Services Committee meeting (November, February, & May)
Appoint Cabinet Members
Approve Governor Applications
 
Chair-
Approve agenda for Governors’ meetings
Set agenda for the Officer & Cabinet meetings
Revise & approve meeting minutes
Represent & Report for YAC at ACOY meetings
Represent & Report for YAC at HSC meetings
 
Vice-Chair-
Set agenda for the Governors’ meetings
Represent YAC at ACOY meetings
Represent YAC at HSC meetings
Serve as Chair when Chair is absent or position is vacant
 
Secretary-
Take and distribute minutes from Governors’ meetings
Take and distribute minutes from Officer & Cabinet meetings
Prepare YAC report for ACOY meetings; Represent YAC at ACOY meetings
Represent YAC at HSC meetings
 
CABINET CO-CHAIRS:
 
Attend monthly Governors’ meetings
Attend monthly Officer & Cabinet meetings
 
Community Service-
Identify and Coordinate quarterly community service projects for Governors, Officers, & Cabinet Members (ex. Area Agency on Aging)
Identify and Coordinate monthly community service projects for all Membership (ex. 5k run, Africa walks)
 
Leadership Development-
Identify and Coordinate regular leadership development opportunities for Governors, Officer, & Cabinet Members (ex. Leadership Experience conference)
Identify and Coordinate bi-annual leadership development opportunities for all Membership (ex. Step-Up)
 
 
 
Special Events-
Plan and Organize quarterly special events that will be open to all Membership (ex. Youth Fest, Battle of the Bands)
Plan and Organize regular special events for Governors, Officers, and Cabinet Members (ex. Graduation party, Holiday party)
Membership Coordination-
Facilitate communication between the Governors and the Membership at large in order to publicize community service, leadership development, and special event opportunities and maximize participation (ex. website, newsletter, flyers, etc.)
Communicate on a regular basis with Governors (ex. send reminders about meeting and event dates, times, and locations)
 
GOVERNORS:
Attend monthly Governors’ meetings
Governors may not miss more than three (3) regular monthly meetings
Serve on at least one (1) Cabinet Committee
Serve, meaning participate in
Governors do NOT have to attend the monthly Officer & Cabinet meetings
Select, Plan, & Organize Youth Advisory Council projects, events, & activities
Serve as a liaison between the Youth Advisory Council and the Governors’ respective school Membership
Vote on action items
 
MEMBERSHIP:
Open to all LoudounCounty teens
Informed of and invited to participate in monthly community service projects
Informed of and invited to participate in quarterly special events
Informed of and invited to participate in bi-annual leadership development opportunities
Receive a monthly newsletter containing information about various opportunities; newsletter delivered through the schools
Access to www.loudounteens.org website; can find information about upcoming opportunities, as well as agendas and minutes from Governors meetings
The first ten minutes of each Board of Governors meeting is dedicated to a public comment period, wherein LoudounCounty teens can express their opinions and/ or concerns
