The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a program through the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. Teens work together planning events for teens and acting as a voice for other teens in the county.
Four to six students from all Loudoun High schools, public and private, are selected to one year terms on the YAC Board of Governors. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
Governors work on a number of special projects and focus on four areas:
Special Events-We plan YouthFest and the YouthFest Battle of the Bands.
Communications-We maintain the loudounteens.org website as well as Facebook and Twitter pages. We publish a monthly newsletter and spread the word about YAC events in schools.
Community Service-We participate as a group in community service projects in the community. We also plan our own community service projects including a food drive and a summer camp supply drive.
Fundraising-We work with Loudoun Youth, Inc. to raise money for YouthFest and other special activities.
Applications for the 2011-2012 term are available on loudounteens.org. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are reviewed as they are
received .
